The Elkhart 100TH Eb tenor horn is a brilliant starter instrument and is ideal for the beginner of any age. The Elkhart brand, which is manufactured under the Vincent Bach umbrella, encompasses a range of well produced student instruments and the 100TH tenor horn is a good example of this. The horn has a yellow brass body with a rose brass lead-pipe and bell. This gives the instrument longevity but also contributes to a nice warm sound. The three valves are stainless steel and have a nice even feel to them. The 100TH horn is supplied as an outfit which includes a mouthpiece, case and cleaning materials. Each brass instrument we supply is always properly set up which means it is playable, straight from the case. Sometimes called the Alto horn, the tenor horn is a medium sized brass instrument which is pitched in Eb. It is most often found in brass bands and marching bands and can sometimes also be found in smaller brass ensembles. The instrument tends to take the middle parts of any orchestration and has a lovely warm, mellow timbre. Alto/Tenor horns are written for in the treble clef and the instrument is pitched a major sixth above concert pitch.
